MARK MACMILLAN ALBERNI VALLEY BULLDOGS
Mark MacMillan’s talents on the ice
are evident by the point-a-game num- bers he’s produced in his rookie season. What fans of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward may not know is that MacMillan is not just an overachiever with a hockey stick and a puck. All through high-school, MacMillan
was a straight A student who landed on the honour roll without fail. “I’d love to play pro hockey for a liv-
ing, but having that education is a cush- ion if hockey doesn’t work out,” says the 17-year old. “It’s important to me to have a Plan B. If you go to university and get a degree, you always have something to fall back on.” His ability to succeed away from the
rink comes as no surprise to his coaches. ”He’s very dedicated and goal orient- ed,” says head coach Nolan Graham.
“If you’re committed to learning in school, you’re going to do the same in hockey.”
- Mark MacMillan
“He’s extremely eager to do what he’s got to do to attain his goals. It’s the same in the classroom, the same in the weight room, and of course it’s the same on the ice. He’s a tremendous kid who isn’t afraid to work.” “Having a good work ethic in every
thing you do is key to being successful,” says MacMillan. “Having the ethic to get the job done on the ice is the same as be- ing focused and committed and willing to do the work in school.”
