JASON YEE POWELL RIVER KINGS
Jason Yee is one of the BCHL’s most
ambitious players. In addition to his role as a defenseman for the Kings, he’s a straight-A student, a certified personal trainer, and a fitness consultant with the City of Powell River. Spurred on by a desire to excel, Yee’s
strong scholastic performance has been the jumping off point for his other achieve- ments on and off the ice. “Doing well in school and hockey are
similar mentally - you need discipline and focus,” says Yee. “For me, part of doing well in school is being naturally competi- tive. I wanted to be the top of every class I was in. Just like hockey, you want to be the best you can be.” Head coach Kent Lewis is impressed
by how Yee’s ambition has paid off. “Jason is excellent in all regards,” says
“It’s a challenge, but you just have to plan accordingly and prioritize your time.”
- Jason Yee
Lewis. “He is one of our best defenders. His mobility is fantastic. He’s the toughest guy on our forwards in practice. Every- thing he does is done to the best of his ability, and his ability is very good.” Yee is a lifelong student, applying his
mind equally to academics and hockey. “I think diligence is needed to go that
extra mile at school and in hockey, too,” says Yee. “Guys like Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby study and try to learn as much as they can from hockey.”
