JOSH MONK SALMON ARM SILVERBACKS
Josh Monk may be the youngest play-
er on the Salmon Arm SilverBacks’ roster, but he’s wise beyond his years when it comes to having a plan for the future that combines both school and hockey. Monk knows that he wants to play
the game at the collegiate level and study kinesiology, with an eye on one day owning his own business. Enrolled in chemistry, English and math as part of his Grade 12 studies at Salmon Arm Secondary, Monk is putting in the effort away from the rink to ensure hockey isn’t his only ticket to success in life. “I’ve actually found it easier than I
thought,” says the 17-year-old. “I always make sure I get help when I need it.” His academic grounding comes from

honour roll at Brookswood Secondary in Langley and received the school’s Student of the Month award for October. But while the scenery and the level of
hockey have changed this season, Monk has made sure that a consistent approach
