SCOTT JACKLIN TRAIL SMOKE EATERS
Typical of his role as a set-up man on
the ice, Trail Smoke Eaters forward Scott Jacklin knows he wants to help people as the basis for his future career. The 19-year-old winger is looking at
becoming either a physiotherapist or an athletic trainer. No matter what he de- cides, one thing is certain: Jacklin plans on getting a post-secondary education. And if he has his way, it will be of the Ivy League variety. “I think (an Ivy League school) would
be a great place to get my education,” he says. “That’s what I’m working towards.” Jacklin graduated from high school last
June, and did so with honours and a 3.8 grade-point average. He credits his par- ents for much of that success. “They’ve always encouraged me and pushed me to reach my potential.”

Jacklin’s success on the ice— he has progressed to become one of the Smoke Eaters’ top forwards — stems from his re- markable work ethic. “He just keeps getting better and bet-
ter,” Ingram says. In fact, it’s easy to measure that im-
provement. It only took Jacklin 28 games this season to beat his season-high for points (29, set in 2007/08), and he cur- rently leads all Smoke Eaters in scoring.
