Web and Information Literacy for Educators (Part 2 of 3) A three-part series on web information and web literacy in education. Participants may attend any or all of the three sessions. Day 1: Finding Information * Strategies for effectively using search engines, getting the best results out of your search. * Validating and vetting information from the web. Day 2: Digital Media Ethics * Resources and tools for finding images, sounds, and video footage. * The ethics of using other people's information and creative content. Day 3: Digital Citizenship * Keeping track of the "foot prints" we leave on the Internet. * Creating and maintaining a positive web presence.

Grade 7-12 Social Studies: Collaborative Learning Community (Part 2 of 4) Social Studies teachers will focus on the demands in understanding historical text, primary documents, timelines, graphs, analysis of data and other content-related materials. Writing will be central to instructional strategies for the classroom. Topics of conversation will include National Core ELA Standards as they relate to Social Studies, development of text sets, differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of all learners, and formative assessments. The elements of Project Based Learning will be instrumental in this offering. As a Learning Community, participants will be expected to attend all sessions.
