t’s been business as usual at GHBA—busy, busy, busy that is! We are preparing for the upcoming Texas Legislative Session, all the while keeping an eye on national issues like AD&C lending, flood insurance and many others. Locally, a Historic Preservation Ordinance rewrite in the City of Houston has taken center stage. A group of members and staff working are hard at work on this, and several meetings are scheduled throughout the city to facilitate further discussion. If you live or work in the City of Houston, these meetings should be of special interest to you.
The meetings are as follows:
August 3, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Proctor Plaza Community Center, 803 W. Temple. Norhill, Woodland Heights, and Freeland Historic Districts
August 5, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glenbrook Methodist Church, 8635 Glen Valley Glenbrook Valley Historic District
August 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at United Way, 50 Waugh Heights East, West & South Historic Districts
On a staff note, something I don’t do often enough is thank Meredith Spencer and Donna Buenik for everything they do to ensure that we are doing our best as an association to protect and serve the industry. On that note, Meredith is leaving us to attend law school. We wish her the very best! Thank you, ladies, for all you do.

“With the NFIP having recently experienced several short-term authorization lapses that have
