Travis Stone Named President of Aliana Development Co.

Travis Stone has been named president of Aliana Development Co., which is developing the 2,000-acre Aliana master- planned community in Fort Bend County.

Stone brings 25 years of development experience to Aliana, including 24 years with the Houston division of Newland Communities. Stone ended his Newland career as senior vice president. Through his career, Stone has been involved in the acquisition and development of several of Fort Bend County’s most successful real estate developments, including Sugar Mill, Greatwood and Telfair, the latter which was the nation’s fourth best-selling new-home community in 2009.

Stone envisions a bright future for Aliana, which offers new homes priced from the $170,000s to more than $1 million, and amenities including miles of waterways, greenbelt trails and The Club at Aliana, a $5 million multipurpose complex with a Texas-Tuscan style clubhouse. Aliana is located between the Grand Parkway and F.M. 1464, with frontage along the north and south sides of W. Airport Blvd.

“A true mixed-use community with a commitment to sustainable master- planning, Aliana will flourish in tandem with The Houstonian, Shadow Hawk and other nearby developments,” he said. “Aliana is proud to be at the forefront of a new generation of development that will help Fort Bend maintain its standing as one of the nation’s top-selling areas.”

The other model under construction is in Foster Crossing in Richmond, Texas and boasts 5,052 square feet.

Vice President of Operations Ron Chamberlain said, “We feel very fortunate to have the financial stability to be building new models and spec homes right now. Our streamlined business model is paying dividends and has helped us weather the downturn." For more information, visit www.sierraclassic.com.

The culmination of six episodes promoting the construction of more raised floor homes throughout Houston was broadcast recently on KHOU-TV’s morning show “Great Day Houston.”

“Design Your Dream Home” promotion encouraged viewers to enter online for the opportunity to design their dream home with the help of a local architect. Hosted by Debra Duncan, the series included interviews with Raised Floor Living’s engineer and treated lumber expert at raised floor homes in the Heights and Bellaire neighborhoods of Houston.

More than 100 viewers entered the promotion. Yolanda Camacho of Houston was randomly selected as the lucky winner. She is now designing her dream raised floor home, working with John Dazey, AIA of RD Architecture LLC.

Architect John Dazey is developing preliminary ideas. “Yolanda’s design will feature a South-facing porch, with a smaller entry landing on the eastern side,” comments John. “A raised floor design is perfect for catching breezes. We want lots of air to pass through the home, providing year-round enjoyment,” he adds.

He’s convinced that a raised floor design is a premium foundation system, and he’s sold on its many benefits. “The raised wood floor concept is flexible. Want to make changes down the road? There’s no digging underneath a slab,” he says.

Homebuilders with experience building raised floor homes can sign up on Raised Floor Living’s online professional locator, a directory of designers, architects, engineers and contractors looking for new clients. All listings are free; visit: www. raisedfloorlivingpro.com/submit_dealer. py. Prospective homebuyers can search the locator by state.

Raised Floor Living is a promotional activity cosponsored by the Southern Pine Council and APA. Online, www. RaisedFloorLiving.com offers complete information for building professionals and consumers wanting to incorporate this foundation feature in their new home.
