BRIDGELAND HOSTS PROJECT PLAYHOUSE AT COMMUNITY EVENT

Bridgeland, an 11,400-acre master-planned community in northwest Houston, recently hosted HomeAid Houston’s 2010 Project Playhouse, the “Vintage Astros Dugout.” Visitors enjoyed a day of baseball-themed fun while checking out the 10' x 10' fully loaded playhouse. Bridgeland is a lead sponsor in this year’s project.

The Bridgeland event included free hotdogs prepared by the Bridgeland Swim Team, batting clinic, a DJ and plenty of opportunity to see firsthand the unique playhouse features. Visitors also purchased $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win the playhouse. The Vintage Dugout was built by David Weekley Homes with donated materials, labor and services by GHBA members. The team was led by Mark Welch, Mike Funk, Cindy Miller, Brian Underwood, Matt Dubroc and Cecilia Jones.

Playhouse features include: authentic bench seating from the Astros dugout (with actual cleat marks!), $1,300 worth of electronics donated by Best Buy including a 32” HDTV, Nintendo Wii with Sports Pack, Panasonic Blu-ray player and Klipsch iGroove SXT audio system. It also includes an 8,000 BTU air conditioner, G.E. stainless steel mini fridge, electrical hookup and more.

The playhouse will be on display at Minute Maid Park during Astros games from July 23 through August 19. Look for the playhouse behind Section 105 on the Concourse level. Tickets can be purchased at www. homeaidhouston.org or at the games. The drawing will be held August 19.

SECOND PLAYHOUSE UP FOR AUCTION AT ASTROS WIVES GALA

We are excited to announce the construction of two playhouses for this year’s fundraising effort. The second Vintage Dugout, also built by David Weekley Homes, will be up for bid at the Astros Wives Gala in August, the "Black Ties and Baseball Caps" event. Event will be held August 12 on the Minute Maid Park field. Proceeds from the auctioned playhouse benefit the Houston Area Women's Association.
