Accompanied by good friends, we took the scenic 80 km drive up Kootenay Lake and camped at Kokanee Chalets and RV in artistic Crawford Bay. Did you know Harry Potter brooms are made in Crawford Bay? The next day we took the free ferry to Balfour.

Many mountains later, our appetites were ready for Grand Fork's authentic Russian food. We stopped at the 1903 Grand Forks Hotel and Restaurant, for a feast of White Borscht, Vorenki, Pryahi, and Galooptsi.
Lightning Lake Campground in Manning Provincial Park, was home for two days of quiet while Dave tried to figure out why Boo’s starter - replaced in Dawson City - kept quitting. But when we left, she still balked, so we headed for the Good Sam rally at Bridal Falls, dropped the trailer, then drove on to Chilliwack. Napa replaced the starter and soon we were back having fun at the rally.
Sept.23, 115 days and 12,536 km later, we were home in Powell River. Cost of basics: camping, ferry’s, and fuel = $5,682 ÷115 days= $49.40 a day. RVing is still the cheapest way to travel, healthiest way to eat, and the most fun while rolling history into a trip.
