Long-Term Prevention Create your own fiber rope flea collar as a preventive remedy for dogs. Do not use the collar on cats—they tend to ex- plore and crawl into small spaces, and a rope tied around their neck could cause them to get stuck or choke.
Natural Flea Collar for Dogs 2 tablespoons peppermint essential oil 1/2 cup rosemary essential oil 2 tablespoons white cedar essential oil 1/4 cup citronella essential oil 2 tablespoons eucalyptus essential oil Soak a natural fiber rope in this mixture and let dry for several hours. Then, loosely tie the rope around your pet’s neck. Be sure you can comfortably place three fingers between the dogs’ neck and the collar.
