HAMPTON SCHOOL


DEPUTY HEAD GROUNDSMAN (HMC 1130 boys 11-18, 320 in Sixth Form)


The School seeks a new post of Deputy Head Groundsman who will report directly to the Head Groundsman. The Deputy will be responsible for allocating and monitoring of the daily tasks of the five Groundstaff that report to this position.


The sporting facilities at Hampton School are a prime asset with maintenance at a high standard. The 23 acres of fields have a rolling plan of automatic irrigation currently 70% complete. The garage is very well equipped including grinding equipment and a full range of machinery.


The average fixture level over a winter season is approximately 1000 fixtures and, with extra games, takes the usage levels to an equivalent of 1600 fixtures per season.


Cricket on the 6 wickets has up to 35 fixtures per week. There is also summer athletics, running track, sprints, discus, javelin and rounders along with surrounding areas and gardens.


The person sought for this role must have a knowledge and background in grounds management and, ideally, should be qualified to NVQ level 3 in amenity horticulture (or equivalent) and have staff management experience. They must also be a proactive team player and have excellent time management and planning skills along with the ability to stand in for the Head Groundsman when required.


Salary will be not less than current IOG pay scales.
