You CANNOT be serious! The not so serious side of the industry
Whoops!!
PICTURE the scene. Pitchcare ‘new boy’ Peter Britton attends his first official function - a visit to to the New Holland tractor plant at Basildon - with an opportunity to test drive their groundscare machines. The company are keen to highlight their unique ‘Super- SteerTM
’ system which gives an
incredibly tight turning circle. So, mounting a TC27D,
Peter heads off to the nearest tree to test the system. Now it’s always important to remember that the Anti Rollover protection is higher than the drivers head! Yep, you’ve guessed it. Peter brought down a huge limb thankfully without damage to himself or the tractor but definitely to his pride!
Off-roading anyone?
QUADS, ATV’s, Utility Vehicles - call ’em what you like, they have a multitude of uses and attachments. One of the most popular is ‘off-roading’. So it was with interest that we received the following emailshot from a company in, of all places, Argentina. It makes interesting reading!
“A company dedicates to the tourism it risks with activities like quads, mountain bike, cavalcades and 4x4 in own circuits that are inside the stay with which we have complete pension with drink and lodgings.
Also left by the mountain range and for the forest tucumana in the Argentine

north. We have trips that they go from the 2 to 8 days with lodgings in the different places, in hotels and I eat in camps, with which have carps, balls of sleeping, backpacks, group electricians, Cellular satelital.

WE’VE all done it, said something that comes out completely wrong! Not a problem if you are sat in the pub with a few mates but a complete howler if you are speaking to millions on TV. If these don’t make you smile you need to see a doctor!
Winning Post’s Stewart Machin commentating on jockey Tony McCoy’s formidable lead: “Tony has a quick look between his legs and likes what he sees.”
Red faced, he returned the tractor to its parking place only to find CNH’s Kevin Carley showing particular interest in a ‘new model!
US PGA Commentator - “One of the reasons Arnie (Arnold Palmer) is playing so well is that, before each tee shot, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them .... Oh my god!!!!! What have I just said?!!!!”

Ken Brown commentating on golfer Nick Faldo and his caddie Fanny Sunneson lining-up shots at the Scottish Open: “Some weeks Nick likes to use Fanny, other weeks he prefers to do it by himself!”
And finally, perhaps not sports related but worthy of a mention...
A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn’t, turned to the weatherman and asked, “So Bob, where’s that eight inches you promised me last night?” Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too, because they were laughing so hard!
