Best experience in this industry? Winning the Groundsman of the Year award in 2000…an emotional tribute to my father in law who pushed me hard. He’d passed away that year.
Worst experience in this industry? A certain manager I can’t name

Who (or what) would you take to a Caribbean island? Chilled lager and U2
Trade shows - good, bad or ugly? Good.... in the winter
What will you do when you retire? Do groundsmen ever retire? Hopefully entertaining grandchildren
Great gaffer or nightmare boss? Great gaffer - hard but fair
Favourite bit of kit? Allett Buffalos. We’ve got 6 of them. They’re a great bit of kit
Who were your childhood heroes? Terry Curran, Mark Smith, John Sheridan……all of Sheffield Wednesday
Fantasy Football - which strikers would you choose? Pele & David Hurst. What a combination!
Pitch aesthetics - traditional blocks or creative patterns? Both, depends on conditions and the time of year. It stops you going crazy!
