ARE YOU GETTING THE MESSAGE?
THE Message Boards remain one of the busiest areas of the Pitchcare website. Over the past few years, many experienced groundsmen and greenkeepers have given of their time and expertise to help those in need of advice, and many practising groundsmen and greenkeepers, volunteers and students have benefited from this assistance. It has also helped stimulate debate on some of the industry’s hot topics and has brought groundsmen together to discuss important issues.
Over the past four years we’ve received a great deal of feedback from Message Board users and we’re pleased to announce that a brand new format has been introduced to the site.
Apart from a new style and layout, our improved board enables you to:
1.Have your own control panel to set your options for message board use
2.Edit messages and replies once you’ve posted them
3.Bookmark your messages
4.Have an Avatar (a digital representation of ones self) - pick from a list or upload your own
5.Create a signature - a single line of text which will appear at the bottom of all your messages and replies
6.Have a pseudonym and post under that or
anonymously - no more having to type your name on each message
7.Decide if you’d like to show your real name and email address linked to your pseudonym
8.Add bold and italic text to messages and add web links
9.Add an image to your message (especially useful for identifying weeds, diseases etc!)
Our website administrators can post ‘sticky’ messages. These are always shown at the top of the list, no matter what date they have on them and will typically be used for announcements or rules about posting.
We’ve also made some changes that make the message board easier to use:
1.It will highlight new messages and messages that have new replies
2.No more subjects on replies - only the overall message has a subject
3.Individual Message Boards will become categorised, and play less of a role in navigating the boards
We hope the new format makes the Message Boards easier to navigate, easier to use and easier to find what you are looking for. As ever, all feedback is very welcome.
