Carol Dutton
Just to say fellers what a great job you’ve done with the first edition. To see some of my old associates, Frank Newberry, Dr. Kate and David White back in print has been a delight. Well done, again.
Tony Howorth, ALS
Just wanted to say what a good job you’ve all done with the new magazine. The in-depth articles are just the sort of thing Groundsmen and Greenkeepers like to read - we think you’re “pitching” it just right (sorry about the pun!). The cleanness of the layout also helps the reader to identify the topic quite quickly.
Tony Evans, Managing Director Pan Publicity
Lovely to see your magazine. Full of interesting articles and points of interest for all people - I’ve read it cover to cover. If this is the way of your magazine - I look forward to all your future issues. Brilliant.
Love Lynda, Terrain Aeration
Congratulations on the first issue of the magazine, it is extremely professionally produced – typography, content, graphics, ad/editorial balance etc etc. But then it’s nothing less than I would expect from you guys. You’ve set a high standard to keep up.

Your chance to win the Dream Team
Joint competition from Kubota and Charterhouse
GROUNDSCARE professionals and amateurs alike throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland have the opportunity to win a compact tractor and a Verti-Drain deep-tine aerator in an outstanding competition being staged jointly by Kubota and Charterhouse Turf Machinery. To be launched officially on the Charterhouse stand at IoG SALTEX 2005, the competition aims to award the ideal turf maintenance package as the exceptional prize for the best-prepared winter sports ground over one season. Entry, which is free, is open to any public or private sports ground with the exception of those in the two top flight divisions of the English football leagues.
Every pitch and sports
ground entered will be judged by an industry specialist and a groundsman from a leading football or rugby club. A short list will be drawn up early in 2006 and the best judged sports ground will be announced in June next year. For excellence in turf maintenance, the winning groundstaff will receive a Charterhouse model 7110 Verti-Drain and a Kubota B1610 compact tractor with a combined value of more than £16,000.
For your chance to see and win the 'dream team' combination, visit the Charterhouse Turf Machinery (W15) and Kubota (W23) exhibition stands at SALTEX and pick up your entry form. Alternatively, forms can be downloaded from the Kubota UK or Charterhouse websites or can be obtained by contacting either company by phone, e-mail, fax or post. The closing date for entries is 31 October 2005.
A thank you from Football Aid
Over half a million raised for charities thanks to YOUR help
FOOTBALL Aid, the beautiful game's favourite football charity, would like to say thank you to all the groundstaff of the Football Aid Clubs for their support in 2005. With their help, it has been our most successful year to date, raising in excess of half a million pounds for a wide range of charities and voluntary organisations. Founded in 2001, the charity is the brainchild of Scottish businessman Craig Paterson, who devised Football Aid as a fundraising initiative to find a cure for diabetes, by allowing football fans the chance to follow in their footballing heroes’
footsteps and play at the stadiums graced by their idols. Key to the success of
any Football Aid event is our use of the pitch so quite simply, without the dedication and support of the groundsmen, there would be no Football Aid. Simply by granting access to the hallowed turf, supporters dreams come true and we continue to fundraise towards diabetes research projects and charities nominated for funding by our partner clubs and authorities. Everyone in football can
be proud of what we have accomplished together so far and hope that all the
groundsmen of the Clubs can give their continued support in 2006. Together, we can grow and develop the fundraising possibilities of the Football Aid products, raising further funds for those in need. Again, from everyone at
Football Aid, a big thank you! Well done!
