they are an ideal “fitness partner” to your swimming pool. Some saunas, lrequire nothing more complicated in terms of installation than a standard 13amp power socket. A sauna will cost you around £3,000 to £4,000 including delivery which, when you consider the fun and benefits of having your own sauna, seems a pretty good investment.


A hot tub would be another good addition to your pool house – although you would need to consider a de-humidifier and ventilation system. Hot-tub advertisements frequently promote them as ideal to have out in the open, portraying romantic couples enjoying a spa under an icy moon. The reality, however, is that many outdoor hot tubs rarely get used because sitting in an outdoor spa on


a freezing cold night is a chilly thing to do – whatever the temperature of the water. How much cosier to have one in the pool house! Like the saunas, you do not have to spend the earth and there is a huge range of imported hot tubs available very cheaply. Your pool house can add a real touch of luxury to your lifestyle and be a really complementary addition to your swimming pool. It does not all have to be achieved from the start and there is nothing wrong with gradually adding to it as the seasons pass. The main thing to remember though is that the pool house you build will not grow. Plan ahead and the structure itself – whether glass, wood or brick – will be the shape and size to accommodate all the little luxuries you have planned.
