nspired pool design is what turns a very good swimming pool into an outstandingly gorgeous one. And, in addition, today’s switched on pool owners want more than just good looks, they want a pool that is dazzlingly brilliant and one that they can spend time swimming in or relaxing by without having to lift a finger. Well, perhaps a finger would have to be lifted in
order to flick the odd switch but heavy duty maintenance is unnecessary with so many high technology products that can be incorporated into pools of all shapes and sizes. The Ancient Greeks knew a few things about earth’s natural resources and how minerals and also copper and silver could be harnessed to purify water. Of course they did not then have the technology to automate the process, now we can do just that and there are a number of excellent pool and spa products that operate by using this age old principle. Those same Greeks had realised that when water was stored in copper containers, no algae grew. Since then it has been discovered that when copper and silver ions are released into water through electrolysis, it produces an efficient method of sterilising swimming pool water and at

the same time reduces chemical consumption. The pool water flows through a cell unit which contains copper and silver probes. Copper and silver ions are then released by electrolysis into the water flowing through the filtration system. The silver ions kill bacteria while the copper ions deplete algae. Because copper and silver ions are not affected by temperature and sunlight, there is constant control over the swimming pool water. Due to the reduction in the need for disinfectant the water is also far gentler on skin and hair. Staying with a natural approach the “FROG” mineral reservoir is a simple but effective means of purification that is adapted within the pool’s filtration with no need for extra plumbing. “FROG” uses no electricity and provides the added advantage of having a ready mixed mineral reservoir capable of holding tablets for a low level chlorine back-up. As well as removing bacteria and preventing algae growth, the FROG helps keep the pool’s pH balanced, making the water feel ‘softer’ and giving it a crystal clear sparkle.
