In recognition of the larger force areas that regionalisation (mergers) would create, we have taken the highest paid Chief Officer and SMT rank salary from each region and then applied an increase of 20% for the now reduced ACPO ranks, and 15% increase for the halved SMT ranks.

On the next page we see the effect this has, by multiplying the new strength numbers by their respective new rank salaries.
