Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher missed their penalties to end England’s hopes and Sven-Goran Eriksson's reign as manager.

Offside Rule, just to help the ladies.

Don’t bother learning this rule as they change it every week. 1: A player is offside if they are nearer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second last player - except on alternate Saturdays when in addition the second last player must be facing in the opposite goals direction in which the ball is directed. 2: A player is not offside if they are in their own half of the field, or they are level with the second last opponent, or the player, opponent and the referee form a triangle as perceived by an imaginary linesmen positioned on the Celestial Meridian. 3: A player is not deemed to be offside if he is not interfering with play. Chris Waddle played a whole game in the World Cup and never interfered with play once, so how does that work?
