Pool Hoist Facilities NOW Available

One of Leisure in Hyndburn’s key primary objectives is to provide inclusive services for Adults, Children and Young People with disabilities. The Trust is continuing to develop its inclusive provisions and is currently celebrating the new installation of pool hoist facilities at Hyndburn Leisure Centre and Mercer Hall Leisure Centre. The Pool Hoists have been purposely designed to alleviate barriers some customers may experience when trying to access comfortably in and out of the pool water. The hoists are also especially adaptable for users with complex disabilities. If you would like further details, or would like to arrange an appointment for pool hoist usage please contact a member of the reception team at Hyndburn Leisure centre on: 01254 385945 or Mercer Hall Leisure Centre on: 01254 885607.

Learning New Tricks !

Three Burnley Fans and three Manchester United supporters are travelling by train to a Football match at the World Cup. At the station, the three United Lads each buy a ticket and watch as the three Burnley boys buy just one ticket between them. "How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?" asks one of the Man U, fans. "Watch and learn," answers one of the Burnley Fans. They all board the train. The Manchester lads take their respective seats but all three Burnley boys cram into a toilet and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the toilet door and says, "Ticket please." The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The Man U, boys see this and agree it was quite a clever idea. So after the game, they decide to copy the Burnley lads on the return trip and save some money. When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Burnley boys don't buy a ticket at all!! "How are you going to travel without a ticket?" says one perplexed United fan. Watch and learn," answers a Claret. When they board the train the three United Lads cram into a toilet and soon after the three Burnley supporters cram into another nearby. The train departs. Shortly afterwards, one of the Burnley lads leaves the toilet and walks over to the toilet where the United Fans are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket please."
