This chart gives a general guide. The College will take into account the circumstances of all students when they
apply and may from time to time make adjustments to the entrance criteria for individual students.
Course Entry Requirements Progression to:
A Levels Five or more A*-C appropriate GCSEs or equivalent University or employment
at one sitting and an appropriate average GCSE
score. For details see pages 17 and 18.
Applied GCE/BTEC National Five or more A*-C appropriate GCSEs or GNVQ University or employment
Intermediate Merit or BTEC First Diploma with
appropriate grades
CACHE Diploma in Five appropriate GCSE grades A*-C University or employment
Child Care and Education and/or evidence of relevant interest or ability
Level 3
BTEC First Diploma or Mainly D grades at GCSE or BTEC National BTEC National, Applied GCE,
CACHE Certificate in Diploma/Certificate, Merit plus relevant CACHE Diploma or employment
Child Care and Education interest or experience
Level 2
BTEC Introductory Diploma No formal qualifications; students will be BTEC First Diploma, CACHE
interviewed and assessed for their suitability Certificate or employment
English for Speakers of No formal qualifications needed; students A variety of College courses
