kzoNobel has announced its next expansion of its analytical columns portfolio with the introduction of Kromasil ClassicShell family of columns. The new Kromasil ClassicShell columns


offering is based on solid core particle technology to give researchers and analysts an alternative to their chromatographic separations. These new columns are packed with 2.5 µm solid core particles and, similarly to the already adopted Kromasil Classic porous 1.8 and 2.5 µm particle size columns, they are intended for fast separations to support effective and efficient laboratory turnaround. “Kromasil continues to be the expanding family of performance products serving chromatography users worldwide both in the laboratory as well as in development and production. The new Kromasil ClassicShell family of columns has been launched with bench scientists in mind who are searching for yet more options in their analytical tool box. These new columns offer flexibility because the analyst can use them in both UHPLC and HPLC systems,” says Mattias Bengtsson, general manager.


Kromasil ClassicShell columns are


available in C18 and C8 derivatisations, taking into account most incoming laboratory sample chemistries in research and quality control. The columns will be delivered across all markets segments

NEW valve delivers low-flow CONTROL E


nabling stable flow control in the ml range, a new proportional 16mm Fasprop valve from IMI Precision Engineering has been launched to increase gas chromatography (GC) repeatability and to improve the detection limit of the instruments. Fasprop, part of the IMI Fas product


range, offers a highly compact proportional valve design, as well as an extremely small orifice – measuring just 0.05mm. Able to precisely control low flow rates in the ml range up to 174 psi/12 bar, Fasprop regulates flow and pressure supply to detectors, which improves stability and sensitivity. In packed and capillary GC columns, the valve also prevents the peak retention time shift caused by poor flow control. Utilising well established flat plunger/
