We round up a few of the best hotels and resorts expected in the near future
Agadir arrival Fairmont has unveiled proposals for a new hotel at Taghazout Bay, near Agadir, in Morocco. Featuring 155 rooms and 52 Fairmont-branded villas, it will open in 2019 with a spa, two restaurants, lounge and pool bar.
Haven in Hvar Four Seasons is to manage and operate a new resort being built on the island of Hvar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. Expected to open in 2019, it will feature 120 rooms plus 60 Four Seasons private residences, from one-bedroom properties to five-bedroom villas.
Nayarit retreat Fairmont has announced plans for a 250-room hotel on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit to open in late 2018. The Fairmont Costa Canuva development, which will incorporate private residences, includes a spa, six restaurants and bars, golf course and activities centre for children.
Embassy revamp Plans have been unveiled to turn the US Embassy in London’s Grosvenor Square into a luxury hotel (below) after the embassy relocates to a building in the capital’s Nine Elms area next year. The proposal to revamp 30 Grosvenor Square, owned by Qatari Diar, into a 137-room hotel has been drawn up by David Chipperfield Architects.

The Maldives is to benefit from the introduction of two major global hotel brands and a range of new independent resorts. Starwood’s St Regis brand will open its first
resort in the Indian Ocean destination this September, while Gran Melia will make its Maldivian debut in 2017. Demand for the destination has remained
high with UK arrivals to the Maldives rising to 29,426 for the first three months of 2016 – an increase of 17% over the same period in 2015. The 77-villa St Regis Vommuli Resort is on
Vommuli island in the Dhaalu atoll, a 40-minute seaplane flight from Male. Gran Melia Maldives, in the Thaa atoll, will

The following month will see the opening of Milaidhoo Island in Baa atoll’s Unesco Biosphere Reserve, featuring 50 overwater villas with private butler service. The resort is being developed by Universal
Resorts – the company behind Baros Maldives and other properties in the destination. Also opening in June in the Baa atoll is
Finolhu, the second resort from Small Maldives Island Co, which already runs Amilla Fushi. Finolhu features 125 villas located on the ocean, lagoon or beach. Early next year will see the debut of the 99-
villa Baglioni Resort Maldives in the Dhaalu atoll – the Italian firm’s first resort in the destination.
