Standing proudly overlooking the Champs
Élysées from the Place de la Concorde, the new Roue de
Paris towers approximately 70 metres (230 feet) over the French capital. The
impressive attraction was delivered this winter by Mondial to the French
showman Marcel Campion, who has enjoyed success on this site since the mid-1990s with wheels of various sizes
his latest construction is arguably the greatest yet to grace this prestigious plaza, where it also overlooks the Jardin des Tuileries and the River Seine. Finished in the
almost obligatory observation wheel colour scheme of white and white, it looks a treat at night thanks to its patriotic tricolor LED lighting. Those colours will be no doubt be appreciated by many
Parisians in the wake of the terrorist attacks that blighted the French capital just as the ride was set for its official opening on November 13 (it eventually opened five days later). Tourist numbers in the city took a significant hit in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, but Campion will be hoping they bounce back and he can enjoy some good business at this most central of locations.
