construction, so kitbash- ing a model building was a small matter.
Having built several Bar Mills kits, I had a good idea how it was to be assem- bled. All I really had to do was change the two ends to make complete gables and add the back. I would then have the structure I thought I was going to have. I started with a 6x12- inch sheet of Mt. Albert Scale Lumber, 1/16-inches thick, along with four-inch clapboard siding, some Grandt Line 12 Pane Win- dows (#5031), a couple of Alex- ander Scale Models freight doors (#2401), and two double win- dows I found in my scrap box. I first laid out the half gable walls from the kit, side by side, pick to pick, onto the back of the 6x12-inch sheet of four-inch clap-

board. I used a very sharp pencil to outline the two walls. Then I extended the line on the left side down to the bottom of the sheet to complete the new wall. Using a metal rule and a hobby knife, I cut the clapboard with a new No. 11 blade. You can put the two origi-
nal walls together to form one of the new walls, or you can make a new wall by following the original outlines of the two together. The clapboards on the Bar Mills sid- ing did line up well, but there was a very distinct line where the two pieces joined, so I chose to make
