Pentrex has assembled a variety of origi- nal Super 8 film footage, complete with sound, presenting early 1970s opera- tions of Amtrak’s Super Chief/El Capi- tan service in Southern California. Vin- tage footage shows the train crossing Cajon Pass, plus a number of locations along Santa Fe’s Second District between San Bernardino and Los Angeles. A trip from Los Angeles to Chicago, including the 8th Street Coach Yard, from a 1972 Amtrak run are part of the 45-minute program. Pentrex’s Super Chief El Capi- tan Transition retails for $29.95.
