we going on next?”, it really is a case of “what restaurant are we going to next?”. From fantastic fine signature dining to quick service dining and character breakfasts, there is something for all tastes and pockets. The introduction of the meal plans makes it even easier to plan your trip and the MyDisneyExperience website and app makes finding and booking a table so simple. My first Walt Disney World dining experience was at JIKO The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The food here is a mixture of cuisine from all over Africa with delicious wine from South Africa. The staff and chefs are so passionate and knowledgeable, talking us through each course; from the oven baked flat bread and dips to a tasting platter which included a crispy duck roll called ‘Bobotie’. We moved onto wild boar, which had been seasoned to perfection, and then the most delicious and tender Filet Mignon with spoon bread and a trio of desserts to follow. The atmosphere here is cosy

and romantic; think low-level lighting and African-style décor. It was so hard to choose, but this was my favourite meal of the

s a big lover of food, I never considered Walt Disney World as

week; the fact that the food was so varied really made you think about all the different tastes and inspirations that went into creating each individual dish. California Grill at Disney’s

Contemporary Resort is a very smart restaurant serving sophisticated American cuisine. Situated on the 15th floor of

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel, we had a private room with spectacular views. The food was delicious with a platter of two main courses and the most chocolatey dessert that I have ever tasted, and the wine was chilled and flowing. The evening finale came at 10pm when you step out onto the roof terrace, which has uninterrupted views of the Magic Kingdom Park from which the ‘Wishes’ show is played through speakers to mix perfectly with the beautiful fireworks and light show over Cinderella Castle. This was a spectacular show with what must be the best seat in the house. The food was cooked to perfection with a fantastic end to the evening! Cape May at Disney’s Beach

Club Resort is a great place to meet some of Disney’s favourite characters. The restaurant has a lovely New England feel with waiter service for tea and coffee, and is a great place for a relaxing breakfast before moving on to a fun-packed day. I would recommend this

place for getting photos with

the stars and spending time together before a fun-filled day at the parks! I was surprised at the choices of quick service options throughout the Disney Resorts and Parks, and we checked out Quick Service at The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Harbour House at Magic Kingdom Park and Landscape of Flavours at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

I’ll admit the term quick

service conjured up images of a downmarket, fast-food style of restaurant, but there is a lot of choice and styles. You can sit down and eat, although for those on the go Walt Disney World has also provided all you need for a take-out service. The Mara serves the usual

Disney breakfast, which is typical of most Walt Disney World quick service locations, as well as lots of healthy options. Lunch is a mix, with some African-inspired dishes, lots of salads, sandwiches and a mixture of foods such as chicken flatbread from the grill. Harbour House at Magic Kingdom Park serve a mixture of seafood and fish in a traditional style harbour tavern, with things like a fried seafood platter, tuna sandwiches or salmon served with couscous and broccoli. This venue offers a welcome sit down and refuel before the electric parade.

Landscape of Flavours at

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a large food court with many different food stations from pizza and pasta to tandoor oven roast meat and vegetables, along with burgers. I chose the create-your- own pasta with extra garlic...maybe not the best choice for making friends! The BOATHOUSE at Disney Springs is one of Walt Disney World’s new fine dining signature venues. It has a lovely relaxed yet elegant feel, overlooking the waters of Disney Springs, and the food is beautiful – from fantastic fresh seafood platters to lovely steaks and salmon. We were served a show-

stopping dessert of a giant chocolate ice cream creation. I loved the BOATHOUSE, a definite as far as I’m concerned, with great staff and a real buzz to the atmosphere. It also has its own marina where lucky guests get to ride in a retro car that is also a boat. In a relatively short space of

time, my preconceptions were thrown out of the window. Anyone going to Walt Disney World is in for a fantastic treat. All the food venues are great

but JIKO and The BOATHOUSE really stood out. Now I just need to visit again

to try out the restaurants in Epcot and experience the others that Walt Disney World has to offer. I’m a convert for sure!
