Consultancy to promote lesser-known destinations

The heads of two well-known trade associations have joined forces to promote tourism to lesser-known destinations.


Derek Moore, chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, and Jean-Marc Flambert, deputy chairman of the Association of National Tourist Offices and Representatives, are working together as chairman and director of consultancy Your Tourism Partner to help emerging countries come up with tourism strategies or develop niche tourism to established destinations. Your Tourism Partner, originally established by Flambert in 2008 as a representation company, is relaunching with a focus on helping destinations, often before tourism has been established. They hope to have “half a dozen” destinations on their books initially and are planning talks in the run-up to World Travel Market next month. Flambert, who is also Antigua

A change of venue has been announced for the inaugural Connections Luxury Asia event. The conference in Beijing will now be held at the Kempinski Nuo Hotel, after the original venue was requisitioned by the Chinese government. Norwegian to fly supplies to Syrian refugee camps


Norwegian is to fly emergency aid and school supplies to help Syrian children living in refugee camps. The budget carrier has started a series of initiatives to enable UK passengers to make donations, in a tie-up with children’s charity Unicef. Norwegian chief executive, Bjorn Kjos, and employees will join the aid flight next month.


Waterworth named chief of Parkdean/Park Resorts UK


Parkdean boss John Waterworth is to become chief executive of the combined Parkdean/ Park Resorts UK holiday parks business. David Boden, chief executive of Park Resorts, will retire. Waterworth, chief executive of Parkdean, will take over upon completion of the merger, subject to clearance by the Competition and Markets Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority. The combined venture will have 7,000 staff across 73 parks.
