Thank you, Riviera... 4897 clive@travelweekly.co.uk

A big thank you to Riviera Travel for the fantastic trip to Krakow that I won in their Jadvent competition. I had a guided tour of this beautiful city, visited Auschwitz and also saw the amazing salt mines.

QUOTE OF THE

WEEK

“If I’m honest, I wouldn’t mind being able to turn heads in my Speedos like Daniel Craig’s James Bond; the

travel industry has a lot in common with 007”

Story: Agent calls for trade help as Sunvil flies out refugee aid Sunvil are amazing and thoughtful to be working with Crusader Travel and the Red Cross. There are many of us in the UK travel trade whose parents walked to freedom during the Second World War.

Why is Tui not rebranding First Choice?

Story: Tui takes first step towards umbrella brand in the Netherlands Why is Tui Group not rebranding First Choice? Mark my words, First Choice is in the market for a sell-off. All-inclusive holidays are going to be phased out, the hoteliers will go back to offering half-board and then there will be no market for First Choice. Those at the top of Tui Group know this and are going to sell it. There is no other reason for them not to change this part of the ground over together with Thomson. STEVE KANE Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Tui Group

TALK BACK WHAT YOU’RE SAYING THIS WEEK

LETTER OF THE

WEEK

•Send it as a JPEG •Remove any call-to-action with your number, email, web address etc

•Make the offer customer-facing. Many savvy independents will communicate with their

client base by social media but, if your files aren’t JPEG, we’re likely to delete it. It’s coming up to peaks now, so make it easy for us to – don’t miss the opportunity. RICHARD SLATER Personal Travel Agents, Macclesfield

Dear suppliers, make it easy for us

This is a plea to tour operators, cruise companies, airlines and hotel groups: we really appreciate the information about offers and new services you send us in the trade, but we need your help to get the message out into the marketplace quickly without having to convert the format and remove your call-to-actions etc. Top tips if you want an agent to get your offer out:
