ost scientists know that accurate density determination

is critical during research. Adam Equipment’s density kit combined with the Nimbus precision or analytical balance makes density determination easy, reliable and precise.

Traditionally, density determination involved measuring the sample material, fi guring out the volume, weighing the sample, dividing the volume by the mass, and fi nally arriving at the density. T is is not only time-consuming and complicated; it can also be inaccurate.

It’s possible to test both solids and liquids using the Adam

density kit in tandem with the Nimbus. T at means that even samples with densities greater or less than that of water can be determined. T e balance’s software will calculate density using water, ethanol or paraffi n as selectable references, and allows users to enter the density of any reference liquid directly.

T e density kit is installed on the fl oor of the balance’s enclosed weighing chamber. T e kit’s beaker holds the reference liquid, which may be reused to test as many samples as needed. T e user simply selects the density application from the built-in menu options. If a reference liquid is used other than what is already programmed into the balance, the user can enter the density for that liquid. T e balance provides prompts to guide users through the process. First, weigh the sample in air using the cup on top of the stand,

and then weigh it in the reference liquid, using the cup suspended on the wire. T e Nimbus’s software calculates the density automatically.

T e density kit includes a glass beaker, a suspended weighing cradle to replace the standard pan, independent support for the beaker of fl uid, thermometer with clip for suspension in the fl uid, and glass sinker of known volume for density determination of fl uids.

Easy to operate, the Nimbus off ers numerous weighing units including a customisable unit, plus readabilities from 0.1mg to 0.1g and capacities from 80g to 22kg. Its solid metal construction provides excellent durability. USB and RS-232 interfaces facilitate data transfer, recording and traceability.
