RM functionality and a dedicated Task Management module are additions to PSL

Datatrack's modular production management business administration system for engineering sub- contractors. Laying the foundations for improvements in customer-focused administration, they offer advantages over web-based CRM systems which can often be too complex or labour intensive. Features include a single register for customer contacts that can be shared by everyone in the organisation, rather than each person having their own contact information, and document management that enables customer and supplier correspondence to be saved. Tasks can be assigned to Quotations, Works Orders, Purchase Orders or other modules, making information available for everyone to access. A sales pipeline feature enables forecasting of the likely success from quotations.

carriers. Designed to restrict finger access to live contacts and prevent the reinsertion of a fuse whilst maintenance is in progress, the LOK6 is ideally suited to Red Spot and other similar style fuse holders. It’s easily adjustable to fit fuse holders from 20A to 100A, providing a ‘’one size fits all solution’’ improving safety and saving time sourcing the right device for the job. Many Red Spot style fuse holders, which are still in widespread use today, are manufactured from materials which are not very durable and can fracture easily by the sharp grub screw found in many conventional MCB / Fuse lock- off devices. To offset this problem, the new LOK6 from Martindale Electric uses an effective clamp system to grip the wall of the Red Spot style fuse holder base, eliminating the possibility of damage. Designed to provide the user with maximum protection, the LOK6 is clamped adjacent to the terminal at one end of the fuse holder, rendering it safe against accidental finger access.

and selection” has arrived and will replace EN 1088 as from 30th April 2015, with a one year transition period. In contrast to the previous standard EN 1088, EN ISO 14119

T

considers additional technologies such as RFID or electromagnetic guard locking, classifies interlocking devices and stipulates more clearly the specifications for installing guards. These stipulations are particularly significant with regard to protection against guard manipulation, also known as defeating of guards. EN ISO 14119 will replace all national standards on this subject

and will be valid worldwide. This signifies a huge step forwards: the old standard was purely European, whereas the new standard is published by ISO. All safety switches and safety gate systems have been classified into

four types for this purpose. The standard considers the operating principles of the switches, such as RFID or electromagnetic for example, and coded safety switches are subdivided into different coding levels. The standard provides specifications with regard to the proper installation of the interlocking device. Each safety gate must be checked for ways in which it can be manipulated. The necessary static and dynamic forces (minimum holding forces) are also examined. Specifications regarding the series connection of safety switches and

safety gate systems are new, addressing the long-known subject of fault masking. EN ISO 14119:2013 provides machine builders and users with much wider scope to use a broader range of technologies when interlocking guards, it also places more responsibility on the designer to prevent foreseeable, deliberate bypassing of guards, and it will change the way in which guard interlocking devices are connected across machines. With its safety switches and safety gate systems, Pilz meets the

specifications of the new standard and supports design engineers who develop standard-compliant, future-proof guards.
