TOOL VENDING MACHINES improve stock control and traceability

A tool vending solution from Brammer is reducing usage of consumable maintenance, repair and overhaul products by 25-40% while reducing time spent locating and ordering items

nvend, the leading industrial vending solution available exclusively through

Brammer and Buck & Hickman has passed a major milestone after a 300th installation was completed at a UK manufacturing facility. Atlantic Air Transport based in Coventry has installed two carousel and one locker-style Invend machines for their tools and general maintenance consumables after being impressed by the increased stock control and traceability it provides. The company specialises in air freighting and has a busy maintenance services division so easy access to consumables is key. Available with a spiral delivery

mechanism, Invend can dispense a wide range of industrial consumables from abrasives and cutting tools to hand tools; personal protective equipment (PPE) to lubricants and greases and offers a variety of business benefits.

INCREASING PRODUCTIVITY “From increasing productivity by reducing the amount of time staff take to locate and order consumables to providing greater visibility over which items are used and by whom, Invend is proven to reduce usage of consumable maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products by 25-40%,” explains head of industrial vending services Ged Farrell.

“For companies choosing to vend PPE

there are health and safety benefits: only approved PPE is available on the shop floor and employees can access the correct equipment suitable for their role which creates an audit trail of issued health and safety items. In addition, Invend can help cut costs by rationalising and reducing the number of suppliers.”

Users have been impressed by the increased stock control and traceability

Atlantic Air Transport is the latest in a

long line of British manufacturers across a wide variety of sectors to reap the benefits of Invend. Novelis Automotive based in Wednesbury in the West Midlands is a leading global supplier of rolled aluminium sheet to the automotive industry and recently took delivery of its first Invend machine while Fine Tubes, a manufacturer of precision stainless steel, nickel, titanium and zirconium alloy tubes currently has 18 – the most in the UK. In addition, major packaging

manufacturer MPS is enjoying significant cost savings on its janitorial products since switching to Invend in 2014.

INTERNET CONNECTION The vending machines are provided by Brammer and Buck & Hickman with the only costs to the customer being a small monthly software/data management fee and the use of parts ordered from the machines. Invend machines have an internet connection direct to Brammer or Buck & Hickman to register re-stocking needs in addition to providing real time management information on usage by individual and cost centre.

TRIAL OFFER PUTS CARBIDE CUTTING TOOL REMANUFACTURING TO THE TEST

When a manufacturer of carbide cutting tools claims it can halve tooling costs by remanufacturing them to ‘as new’ condition up to seven times, customers might be forgiven for being sceptical. To get to the truth Quickgrind is making a special ‘trial’ offer. “We will take up to 10 identical 6 to 16 mm tools, Quickgrind or any other brand and remanufacture them for a total price of £25,” explains

managing director Ross Howell. “We want customers to see for themselves that our unique QuickEdge remanufacturing process is completely different from traditional ‘regrinding’. They will discover that the remanufactured tools perform as well as new tools – in some cases even better.” QuickEdge is part of an alternative tooling philosophy described by

Quickgrind as ‘total solution engineering’. This includes a tooling performance consultancy service to identify or create the perfect tool for each job and advise on how to use it most profitably; and a cost-cutting system for tool management. “We understand that some companies may feel the improvements we

claim are too good to be true so we’re giving them a chance to put us to the test,” says Howell. “We have a strong reputation internationally for increasing customers’ productivity and maximising their profitability but in the UK it has proved harder to persuade people that there’s a better approach to tooling. Those who take up our offer will soon see how Quickgrind’s innovations can give their business a unique cutting edge.”
