Chinese park embraces the kitsch cat
oft opened on January 1, the 60-acre Hello Kitty Park is located about three hours from Shanghai in the Zhejiang province. Iconic features at the colourful park, where pink and pastel shades feature heavily, include a fantasy castle and Asia’s first Coaster Wheel from Intamin, featuring a total of 16 gondolas (eight fixed, eight on tracks). After initial concept work by The Hettema Group, the park’s design was completed by a number of
international firms. Additional suppliers include Zierer, which supplied attractions including an apple- themed Wave Swinger, Flying Flowers (Flying Fish/ jet ride), Ancient Stone Boat (Kontiki) and Jetski ride and Zamperla, whose contributions include a Samba Tower balloon ride and Magic Bikes. Also featured are a 782-seat theatre hosting musical performances and an aqua amusement zone. Crucially, the facility was ready in time for Chinese
