Sky Fly 2015


New Sky Fly rides are planned from Gerstlauer this coming season at at least three parks in Europe, adding to the attractions already operational at L egoland Deutschland and Nigloland in F rance. Each of the three new rides will stand 22m high and feature


12 single - seater gondolas that passengers can flip from side to side and roll lover by moving levers on the wings.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach in England has teamed up with the RAF Red Arrows aerobatic display team to launch a ride called R ed Arrows Sky Force. The ride is set for a spring debut, in the shadow of the park ’s signature Big One rollercoaster . Added touches will include a control tower from which novice pilots will be prepared for take- off.

It will be located in the shadow of the Sky Scream coaster from P remier Rides that opened last season. The design team of park owner Plopsa has come up with an interesting look for the ride, which will be executed over the next two seasons as the theming of the surrounding area is completed in 2016.

Mt Olympus adds


Manticore


Mt Olympus, W isconsin Dells, W isconsin, is adding a 43m (140ft) F untime Star Flyer for the 2015 season. Called Manticore, the 24- seater ride will be built under licence in Turkey and comes equipped with a barrage of LED lights.

“Mine workers”, who must be at least 1.4m tall to ride, will enjoy the experience on a 18- seater trains (three rows of six). On their “search for gold” they will leave the terminal building and climb to a height of almost 30m before plummeting into a 37.5m freefall down into the mineshaft. Subsequently , passengers will roar around elements including an Immelmann (a half loop with a half roll) at around 90kmh, followed by a Zero - G roll (an inside out corkscrew during which riders momentarily experience weightlessness) and finally a fast spiral. “ There’s no time to recover from the bloodcurdling dive,” says Efteling chairman and CEO F ons Jurgens. “ The entire ride, which lasts a full 130 seconds, is characterised by speed and sensation.”
