The largest shopping and leisure complex in the Heilongjiang province of northeast China is creating a dedicated family attractions zone on the third floor of the building. Since opening in 2004, Harbin L esong Plaza has been renowned for championing the trend of integrated shopping and leisure facilities in the region, and as from this May it will have a new attraction courtesy of Holovis Attractions. The British company is supplying a 12- seat interactive Immersive Theatre complete with a 180° surround screen that “wraps” the audience in media featuring a unique storyline and game content. The interactivity will run on InterAct, a proprietary technology platform from Holovis that enables a highly accurate, easy -to-use interactive experience for seamless player integration. Players will sit on Holovis motion seats that have a three DOF platform capability .

In what is believed to be a first for such theatres, the players will be able to select the game that they participate in with a live vote using their interactive devices at the beginning. The two game options, taken from the Holovis DomeRider Series are Jungle Crisis and The Lost Cove.

Flashback to 2014 at Zoombezi Bay

This AquaPlay R ainF ortress, named Baboon L agoon, helped Zoombezi Bay break attendance figures last summer despite less than favourable weather conditions in Ohio.

“ When you have something new to offer before the season open it encourages group sales and increases the number seasons pass holders,” explains John Gannon, general manager of the waterpark facility at The Columbus Zoo. “ W e experienced the majority of this revenue boost by promoting Baboon Lagoon pre -season.” The animal-themed structure by WhiteW ater replaced an existing water playground but enhanced the guest experience offering over twice the waterslides alongside added play elements. The attraction formed the centrepiece of a new area designed by ADG , which also included new retail and dining choices.

Baboon Lagoon also won an IAAPA PA A Best

New P roduct Award for Zoombezi Bay in the category of best Themed Exhibit Design for Zoos, Aquariums and Museums.
