Integrated Systems Europe is the annual showcase for all that is new and exciting in audiovisual technology. There were some head-spinning technologies on display at this year’s event – Newsflash asked some of the team to tell us what impressed them most and which solutions and technologies they believe will create the best new opportunities.

Marc Thrush • UK BUSINESS MANAGER FOR LARGE FORMAT DISPLAYS

HD3 COMES TO LIFE

Te way large format is moving on was clearly in evidence at ISE, says Marc. ‘Almost all of the LFD manufacturers are moving into LED cubes or sheets. Pixel pitch is becoming smaller and the modular design lends itself to standard and bespoke installs, whilst requiring no special transportation.’

Highlighting specific products, Marc was impressed by the new Mezzanine solution from Oblong, which, he says ‘literally brings the Minority Report product to market’. Te concept here is to extend collaboration and videoconferencing by turning telepresence into ‘infopresence’, linking conference rooms and teams together across all devices to enable full sharing of all content.

One product that had a real ‘wow factor’, was the new Realfiction DREAMOC HD31 3D holographic display. Resellers are already picking up on the potential here, says Marc. ‘One started selling the product in front of us, describing the visual impact it could have in certain scenarios. Tey highlighted breweries and sporting venues as two customers they need to demonstrate to ASAP. Tey talked about how the HD3 could be used to produce holographic content on menus, for example, getting people to start eating with their eyes. Integrating a physical product with a holographic animation is a unique proposition at the moment, but one that has huge potential. Te possibilities are endless.’

Simon Kison • EU GENERAL MANAGER

VISION CONFIGURATOR PROVES AN INSTANT HIT

ISE saw the first airing of the online Vision Media Player configurator on both the Vision site and on InTouch, and Simon Kitson was pleased with the response ‘People who saw it demonstrated loved the idea of being able to configure their own Vision Media Player in a few easy steps. A number said that they would love a version embedded into their own websites, which will be possible very soon. Te flexibility offered by the Vision media player, with differing chip type and size, OS options of Linux, full Windows or Windows Embedded, and optional Signagelive software for one or three years, really resonates in a market where one size does not always fit all.’

20 Brian Saunders • UK SALES MANAGER

A REAL STEP FORWARD For Brian Saunders, the advances being made in display technology for digital signage and interactive projectors were the main trends at ISE. ‘I was extremely impressed with the HTML 5 functions in digital signage displays. Tis seemed to be a focus for most of the screen manufacturers, with various forms of content creation being offered. Te LG and Philips options were especially popular.’

He was also impressed with the latest version of Barco’s popular Clickshare collaboration solution CSM, which features new dual-display functionality, iPad compatibility and integrated audio. ‘Te new functionality is a real step forward in the evolution of the product’ says Brian. Te latest version should become available in April.

Brian also noted that there was a strong emphasis on interactive features by leading projector vendors such as Epson, Sony and BenQ at ISE. Tis development should present some good opportunities in the coming year.

Shaun Elliott • UK SALES DIRECTOR

VIBRANT AV ATMOSPHERE

Shaun Elliott was suitably impressed by his first ever visit to ISE. ‘It was a huge event and reflected just how big and diverse the AV industry is today. It was a great learning exercise.’ He was particularly impressed with how lively this event was compared with other IT shows he has attended in the past. ‘It was vibrant and buzzing. Te Maverick stand was exceptional and always busy, which was great. Tere seemed to be a genuine enthusiasm’. He noted that the Vision Wireless HDMI and HDMI2 over Power2 products were attracting a lot of attention on the Maverick stand.

Mark Tildesley • UK GENERAL MANAGER
