GRADUATION

GRADUATION MORTAR BOARDS OFF TO THE CLASS OF 2014

The College’s 46th Graduation Ceremony took place on Friday 21st November at 1:30pm at the Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth. Following an address of welcome from Adrian Wild, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Principal Haymo Thiel gave his annual report to open the ceremony. Soon thereafter close to 150 MChiro and postgraduate students took to the stage to receive their academic awards in front of their friends and families and the ‘Great and Good’ of the chiropractic world. Several students were also awarded a number of prizes recognizing high academic or special achievements on either the chiropractic or one of the postgraduate programmes.

This year the college was fortunate enough to have a new award donated by the Mayor of Bournemouth, entitled ‘The Mayor’s Award for Community Health’. The Mayor himself was in attendance as part of the platform party to hand the award to Anna Papadopoulou for her work to promote health and well-being in the local community.

After the awards and prizes, all chiropractic graduates swore the Chiropractors Oath and participated in the age-old tradition of ‘tassel changing’, as instructed by Dr Neil Osborne, Director of Clinic. Once all were seated, Dr Timothy Raven, the Invited Graduation Speaker, gave his address entitled: ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’. A reminder that as important as this initial award is, the learning in terms of future careers as well as professional and personal development is just beginning.

Following Dr Raven’s address, Dr Kenneth Vall, former AECC Principal, took to the centre of the stage to be awarded ‘Honorary Fellow of the AECC’. Dr Vall’s contributions have been fundamental in moulding the AECC into the world leading institution that it is today.
