Welcome to the Spring 2015 edition of AECC News.
2015 marks an important milestone for the AECC as it has been 50 years since the college opened the doors to its first chiropractic students. It is a year to look back on how far we have come since our early beginnings, but also a year to look towards the future, and to anticipate the exciting changes and advances that the current and future years will bring. To mark our 50th anniversary we will be holding a number of celebrations throughout the year for AECC staff, students and alumni. Our alumni celebrations will be taking place from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th September, and we are particularly pleased to be able to tie in our own event with the 90th Anniversary of the BCA, making it an even bigger occasion to mark.
The final term of 2014 saw our 46th Graduation Awards Ceremony take place at the Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth. It was fantastic to see close to 150 Masters of Chiropractic and postgraduate students take to the stage in front of their friends and families. We were also proud to award several of our students a number of prizes in recognition of high academic or special achievements.
We continue to make improvements to the college with a new bar (Toggler’s Arms) being the latest in a number of updates. The bar has now the same modern finish as our new ‘Spine & Dine’ refectory. Our brand new Open and Upright MRI facility started scanning patients in November and we are accepting referrals from registered healthcare professionals. The MRI facility is a welcome addition to the AECC’s existing imaging services which include Quantitative Fluoroscopy (QF), a professional x-ray service in our outpatient clinic as well a range of diagnostic ultrasound services. This combination of advanced technologies places the AECC at the forefront of imaging facilities in the country; offering a foundation of excellence in both undergraduate and postgraduate training and clinical service, of which we are extremely proud.
