Less than 600 short, but


intense days separate us from the start of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Ja- neiro. Packed in the middle are 10 World Cups (7 ISSF & 3 IPC), Pan American Games, World Champion- ship (shotgun) and all the drama of domestic qualifi ca- tion and selection. From it will emerge the USA Shoot- ing’s Olympic and Paralym- pic representatives. To get you prepared, we’re laying out the targets ahead as Rio comes into sight.


Quotas The fi rst step is earning


the right as a country to compete in each of the 15 Olympic and 12 Paralym- pic events through country quotas. Seven of them have been nabbed thus far with fi ve Olympic (Double Trap, Men’s & Women’s Skeet, men’s air pistol & rifl e) and two Paralympic (mixed sport pistol, mixed standing air rifl e). Twenty-fi ve more Olympic and 10 Paralympic quotas remain available and will be earned through 2015 competition. Additional quo- ta places can be obtained at the Pan American Games

2015 Team Selection The athletes qualifying to


compete at the World Cup, Pan Ams and World Champs where quotas are available are based upon a robust selection system that var- ies per discipline. Below is a summary of how athletes are being selected for each event. Please consult the full selection procedures on our website for more detail.
