Ex-Apple director Segall gets to core of design

Travel websites are failing to offer users a fulfilling experience, according to former Apple creative director Ken Segall. Segall (pictured) was a colleague of the late Apple founder Steve Jobs for many years, having worked with him at Next Computer before his return to Apple. He explained how simplicity

was the key to Apple’s success and how it came to become the world’s most valuable company, having been just 90 days from bankruptcy in 1997. Asked for his thoughts about

travel websites, Segall said: “Basically, they are all the same. My travel often involves multiple cities, and it isn’t easy to do, so I have had to call a travel agent and say just do this for me and pay whatever the fee is.” Segall said website design in

travel was lacking: “Most of the sites have pretty bad design: they are not that pleasing to look at so [using them] feels like more work.”

Micaela Giacobbe, commercial

events director at Travel Weekly Group, said: “Connections Luxury gives senior executives the opportunity to build new relationships in a new and creative way. It is a unique approach and makes other industry trade shows look tired by comparison.” Quentin Desurmont, founder of

Traveller Made, said: “This event is clearly going to become one of the pillars that will support the future of real luxury travel.”
