newsbriefs Align With The Season at New World Wellness N
ew World Wellness presents “Late Summer Wellness Workshop & Yoga Class: Align with the Season.” Late summer is recognized in East Asian Medicine as the fi fth season, a time of transition from the Yang (warm, blossoming spring and summer) to the Yin (cold, restful autumn and winter). Represented by the earth element, late summer is the time for becoming more grounded and centered. The organs related to the season in East Asian Medicine are the stomach and spleen, responsible for transitioning food into viable energy. At this time of year, it is wise to maximize the body’s nutritive support and relax the overactive mind. Adding yoga to your routine is a great way to sync up with the rhythms of the season. A late summer yoga practice focuses on opening the spleen and stomach channels, aiding digestion, increasing nourishment and detoxifi cation of the tissues and reducing infl ammation. Emphasis on a restorative meditative practice calms the mind and allows for greater mental clarity. A seasonal practice, honed in this way, restores the body, mind and spirit, boosting energy and immunity, easing worry, anxiety and depression and leaving a lasting sense of well-being. Join Julia LaBarge, LMT, RYT, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, to align with the season’s healing energy. This workshop will consist of a 1½ hour yoga class combining a light Vinyasa fl ow and true restorative practice (suitable for all levels of experience), discussion about benefi cial self-care for the season and a sampling of some seasonal foods. Enjoy this transitional time with friends, food and fun for well- being. Held at New World Wellness (20 W. Dakin St. Kissimmee, 34741) on Sunday, Sept 14 from1-4 pm, the fee is only $30. Contact Julia LaBarge at 321-437-5917 to register. (Please pre-register by Friday, Sept 12 or soon after.)
