“Coach (Mike) Anti and I are thrilled to say the

least,” said Meili. “In fact, we worked with him to set his goals on making the junior World Cham- pionship team, and David ups the challenge for himself, beating out past Olympians to make the Open team. That’s an even bigger accomplish- ment, but one he is obviously ready to compete for.”

In Spain, Higgins will join three-time Olympic

gold medalist Matt Emmons and 2012 Olympian Michael McPhail in Men’s Prone Rifl e. “His focus will be mainly in the Prone event (an

event not shot in collegiate competition) for the next month-and-a-half. The experience he gains by rubbing shoulders with and competing against the top shooters in the world will not only help him learn to perform under pressure, it will also teach him about camaraderie and working with a high level team as an offi cer in the future,” Meili added.
