ISSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ® World Championship Bullet Points...
U.S. Success • The United States is second in World Championship medals to the Soviet Union (1954-1991) with 549 World Championship medals won since 1912 (194 gold, 182 silver and 173 bronze).
• The United States is third in World Championship Individual medals with 301 total (105 gold, 91 silver, 105 bronze).
• The last World Championships for all disciplines was in Munich, Germany in 2010.
• Limited to the Olympic events, the ISSF World Champion- ships can award Olympic Quota Places, and it is therefore considered an Olympic Qualifi cation competition. This event will be the fi rst for the United States to earn Olympic Quota Places.
• Athletes representing 36 states: California with 10 ath- letes and Texas with nine.

Looking Back to the 2010 World Championshp... Thirty-fi ve nations fi nished on the podium of the 50th
ISSF World Championship in 2010 from Munich, Germany. The People’s Republic of China fi nished atop of the medal standings, securing 21 Gold, 20 Silver and 11 Bronze med- als, while Russia followed in second with 21 Gold, 13 Silver and 12 Bronze medals, for a total of 46 awards. The United States fi nished third in the medal standings with 11 gold, six silver and seven bronze for 24 medals. The U.S. also set four World Records during the 50th World Championships.

(Don Nygord, Air)…1998 is the last World Champs individ- ual junior medal (Lauren Santibanez, Sport)…In 2010, Brad Balsley, Keith Sanderson and Emil Milev earned a bronze medal in the Rapid Fire team event…In 1994, current team member Milev earned a silver medal in Rapid Fire as a mem- ber of the Bulgarian National Team.
Rifl e Facts Sarah Scherer was the Junior silver medalist in 2010 in
Three-Position…Joe Hein was the co-Junior World Champion in 2002 in Three-Position and a part of a team bronze medal that same year…Matt Emmons was the Junior World Champ bronze medalist in 1998 in Three-Position. He also was the 50m Prone gold medalist in 2002 and bronze medalist in 2010. With a medal in Prone, he would become the all-time leader with three World Champs medals in this event. Em- mons also owns a team air rifl e bronze medal from 2002. Emmons was also was part of a Junior World Championship team gold in Men’s Three-Position Rifl e and a team bronze medal in Prone Rifl e in 1998…Sarah Beard was the Junior World Championships silver medalist in 2010 in Prone…Eric Uptagrafft was the 300m Three-Position silver medalist in 2002. Uptagrafft has also been a part of four World Champs team medals including two in 300m events and two in Prone…Emmons and Michael McPhail were part of a team bronze medal in Three-Position in 2006 along with USAMU coach and four-time Olympian Jason Parker. Emmons was also part of a team silver medal in the same event in 2002, teaming with Mike Anti and Glenn Dubis. Emmons, McPhail and Uptagrafft have teamed together at each of the last two World Championships to win the Prone Rifl e event…Reya Kempley was part of the gold-medal winning team in 300m Prone in 2006 while also earning a team silver medal 300m Three-Position in 2010 as well…Amy Sowash was part of the gold-medal winning team in Three-Position Rifl e in 2010.
