going to be freed up to concentrate on more of the strategic alignment, but we’ve already made the decision to become more focussed in what we do. Moving forward, David believes that there are ‘more opportunities than ever before’, both with Zycko’s existing portfolio, and some carefully selected new vendors and technologies.


David is looking at the prospect of adding two new technology areas to strengthen and reinforce the company’s present solution portfolio, and drive a significant increase in new business turnover. Not much more can be said right now, as Zycko is in contract negotiations, but it’s clear that David is very excited about their potential. One has only to look at Zycko’s track record when it comes to selecting the ‘right’ vendors in any particular technology space to realise that, when it comes, it will be major news!


If the above represents much of Zycko’s planned net new business growth, then Riverbed is the major player in the company’s existing portfolio when it comes to delivering increased sales. While David would be the first to concede that no one can predict just how successful a vendor/technology will prove to be over time, he has little doubt that the Riverbed phenomenon is not going to go away any time soon. “There’s massive opportunity with Riverbed – for example there is an $11 billion market opportunity growing at about a 5% compounded annual growth rate. We’ve just done our largest ever (eight figure) Riverbed deal and anticipate that there’ll be good growth, driven by the increasing focus on network and application management, in both the SteelHead and newer product lines such as SteelCentral, SteelApp and SteelFusion, with the latter really starting to motor.”


This success story is no accident. Zycko has been a Riverbed distributor since 2005, and is the most extensively resourced, qualified,

experienced and successful Riverbed Distributor in Europe and EMEA. Zycko has almost 80 RSA/RSS accredited Riverbed sales account managers across EMEA holding more than 175 accreditations between them, over 17 RCSP accredited Riverbed engineers with over 75 accreditations, and 8 RATP accredited Riverbed trainers. And also has a fully skilled Riverbed Marketing team helping to generate opportunities.

Partner (RATP). Zycko also has the most extensive Riverbed demonstration facilities in EMEA available remotely or on site across Europe. No surprise, then, that Zycko was the recipient of the Riverbed Technology EMEA Distribution Partner of the Year 2013 Award, for the sixth year running!


ProLabs, now a vendor in its own right, also presents a great high quality yet cost-effective alternative to the big name infrastructure and connectivity manufacturers. “If 10-20% of an IT project consists of accessories and components, the overall savings can be huge. With extensive warranties - including lifetime on many component based products – ProLabs provides peace of mind too. ” says David.


The wired/virtual network opportunities are coming thick and fast, however although the wireless market is huge it is still fragmented. In Meru Networks’ case, David is a firm believer in the technology – a virtualised wireless network, and the leading wireless vendor for 802.11ac with around half the market share – but it’s clear that the growth in wireless is not coming as quickly as he’d like. That said, Zycko is working on a number of large stadium deals across Europe currently, and there are others to come. “The Meru Networks’
