Spirax Sarco shows ‘commitment to quality’ in £1.5m boiler house project
is a smart purchase…..
Top five reasons why the GS4200-USB©
1. Plug-in & Play - Pressure measurement has never been so easy! With the ESI-USB© software you can connect your transducer to your laptop or PC and away you go. We
keep things running
smoothly by sending you free software updates. 2. Portable - With no need for any additional
hardware or software you can test and record data on-site, ideal for performing test and calibration, spot checks or local, direct monitoring. 3. SOS Sensor Technology - The SOS sensor element is then bonded to a titanium diaphragm instead of traditional stainless steel.
High
overpressures, very low hysteresis and great corrosion resistance are the result. 4. Pressure Range and Accuracy - With pressure
ranges from vacuum all the way up to 4000bar, we have a GS4200-USB for almost any application. It boasts a standard accuracy of 0.15% making it the ideal solution for high accuracy applications. 5. Price - We all know how expensive data logging can be. The ESI USB transducer is an extremely cost effective solution for monitoring and recording pressure data with no need for costly I/O interface boards.

pirax Sarco has completed the handover of a £1.5 million turnkey boiler house project as part of an innovative £4.3 million waste-to- energy plant at Davyhulme in Manchester. Owned by United Utilities, the plant uses sewage to supply gas for a combined heat and power plant. It recycles the waste heat from electricity generation to produce steam in the boiler house that can then be used in the process. This plant will eventually generate enough energy to offset the electrical power needs of Davyhulme, one of Europe’s largest wastewater treatment facilities. The main design and build contractor for the overall Davyhulme project is Black & Veatch, and the company wanted to hand over the steam systems to a reliable supplier. The scope of the contract included three boilers, two boiler feedtanks and a comprehensive water treatment system. It also included all the associated controls to enable the boilerhouse to run unmanned and maximise energy efficiency, such as automatic TDS and bottom blowdown systems. Design started in 2009 and deliveries began early in 2010. Spirax Sarco finished the installation by the end of 2011 and commissioning was completed in February 2012.

Advertorial
he new GSposition side rotary position sensor from Gill Sensors provides an innovative way of measuring absolute rotary position. Developed for radial measurement, the sensor allows measurement of shaft position and can be retrofitted to the side of the shaft where access is restricted.
The rotary
sensor produces absolute position feedback through 360° and is capable of measurement up to 300rpm. Capable of achieving +/- 1% accuracy, the GSpsosition rotary position sensor remains operational in temperatures from –40°C to +160°C and features a 15 KHz update rate delivering fast and accurate rotary measurement. Ideal for a range of applications including, high- speed automation, forest equipment and print processing and textile machinery, Gill’s next generation position sensor offers easy fit and forget installation, high accuracy measurement and unrivalled reliability throughout the lifetime of the equipment.

High-resolution light grid BLA - Identify parts and determine positions
I
f different objects must be identified, compared or sorted during packaging, Balluff's newly-developed high-resolution light grid can score points with its high-resolution light grid for optical object detection with a width of 50 mm and a range of up to 2 metres. Consisting of a transmitter with a high- performance redlight laser and a receiver, the device works completely self- sufficiently, without additional accessories such as PC or special software. All settings can be made via a display in the receiver. The high resolution of 0.01 mm opens up many application possibilities. Evaluated are not only the light quantity of the especially homogeneous red laser light, but also the location and position within the light grid. In addition, the emitter and receiver are encased in a rugged industrial housing and can be easily and quickly aligned using the live graphic display on the integrated multi-function display. The user can teach-in up to six different objects using the buttons and can hide obstructions in the measuring field (blanking). This way different objects can be reliably detected, compared and sorted based on minimal differences in size. Other applications include presence and height checks. The result of the inspection is then available at two analog and three digital outputs. A variant with an IO-Link interface will follow.
