FOCUS ON INDIA

WHERE TO STAY

The thriving Indian hotel sector is expected to grow again this year, with foreign investment a key driver. In addition to their existing presence, international brands like Marriott, Hyatt, InterContinental, Accor, Carlson-Rezidor, Starwood and Jumeirah plan to open properties across India. To face the challenge, local groups have

unveiled their own expansion plans. The Leela group aims to open properties in a number of states, including Kerala; Oberoi is looking to acquire hotels; and Lemon Tree is to add 5,000 rooms by 2016/17. Meanwhile, ITC Hotels has six properties in

the pipeline, and in addition to the five hotels launched last year, the Taj Group will open a further nine this year.
