T


he next two years are going to be very exciting for me as the new ITM Chairman. I


started my career in procurement and when I was first handed the travel category, many years ago, it was the ITM that I turned to for help and advice. I subsequently joined the ITM Board four years ago and my personal goal at that time was to support the ITM in providing somewhere that would help buyers and suppliers to learn and share knowledge and experience. ITM today delivers significant


resources and educational events that are firmly established in our busy calendar. My objective as a CIPS-qualified procurement professional, and now as Chairman of ITM, is to expand the knowledge and experience that we provide in our education programme. We are looking at various ways to achieve this including perhaps becoming a chartered institute. In the next 12 months the ITM will be developing more educational content for our supplier members, particularly those whose job it is to sell to or indeed account manage the buyer members. My background is purely in procurement so the challenge I am most looking forward to is putting myself in the shoes of our suppliers and working hard to understand how we can support their development. The pace of change is ever


increasing in our world and the ITM plays a pivotal role in preparing our members for the future within the business travel sector. For example, our NDC working party continues to work with IATA to help them understand the needs of the corporate customers. The Industry Affairs Group represents our interests when it comes to UK transport infrastructure and taxation and our partnership with GBTA gives us a voice through a global platform for many other industry-wide issues that we face. Two years isn’t very long but I’m


sure the amount of change we will face during my term as Chairman will keep me on my toes. I am very much looking forward to working closely with the ITM Board and our many members.


Chris Bowen JOINS: CARLSON WAGONLIT TRAVEL

 Chris Bowen becomes Carlson Wagonlit Travel's new Senior Vice


President UK & Ireland in August and will be part of the company's EMEA leadership team. He joins from Sony, where he is currently Managing Director UK & Ireland. Prior to his role at Sony, Chris was based in Geneva with Eastman Kodak.


Karen Broughton JOINS: TRAVELODGE


AS: Sales & Marketing Director FROM: Money Advice Service


 Karen Broughton will join Travelodge this September as the


company's new Sales & Marketing Director. She is currently Executive Director, Marketing and Service Delivery at Money Advice Service. She began her career at British Airways and has also worked for BAA and World Duty Free.


Caroline Strachan JOINS: AMEX GLOBAL BUSINESS TRAVEL


AS: Vice President, Global Business Consulting, EMEA FROM: AstraZeneca


 Caroline Strachan has left her role at AstraZeneca to join American


Express Global Business Travel as Vice President, Global Business Consulting, EMEA. She has worked in the travel and meetings industry for over 20 years and has chaired both GBTA Europe and ITM.


Marie Hilditch MOVES WITHIN: BRITISH AIRWAYS

 Marie Hilditch has crossed the Atlantic from her native New York


to set up in London as British Airways' new Head of Corporate Sales. She joined the airline in 1984 and has gone on to work in a number of senior sales roles in corporate and regional teams throughout the US.


Volker Huber JOINS: HRS, THE HOTEL SOLUTIONS PROVIDER

 Voker Huber has joined HRS as Senior Vice President Corporate


Solutions for the company’s global corporate customer business segment. Prior to joining HRS, he worked for AirPlus where he was responsible for the international establishment of the global business, focusing on the Asian markets.
