Event review WORLD CUP PARTY
THE FINAL WHISTLE
As the hopes and dreams of England’s World Cup campaign fizzled out, The Business Travel Magazine still gave some supporters reasons to be cheerful at a World Cup Party held at The Mermaid Conference Centre in London. The party, held in partnership with Virgin
Trains and SACO Apartments, saw over 120 people enjoy a dour 0-0 draw on the big screens, while others viewed the latest attempt by Luis Suarez to literally take a nibble out of an opponent. Despite England’s lack of any hope of
progression, the attendees entered into the spirit of the event, with numerous competitions for predicting the first goal scorer (a false hope alas) and first yellow card, while Virgin Trains and SACO Apartments offered one lucky attendee first class train tickets and an apartment stay in Manchester. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had
by all, and we look forward to next year’s rugby World Cup where one suspects there may be a little more hope of progression by the national team, although to be on the safe side the event will probably be focused around one of the earlier group games…
