At its General Assembly in May, the national acr contractor associations across Europe, who form AREA, agreed to bestow Honorary Membership of the European trade body on Cedric Sloan, director general of FETA. This honour was proposed by the new president of AREA, Per Jonasson of Sweden, in recognition of Mr Sloan’s contribution to restructuring the trade organisation and providing a firm administrative base within Orgalime.

James Cullen has been appointed the new director of scroll product management at Bitzer. His primary functions

include developing key product strategies for scroll compressors and tapping into new markets. Mr Cullen has many years of experience as an engineer and in leadership roles in product and range management at global companies in the HVAC industry. He has been with Bitzer Scroll Inc since the ORBIT 8 scroll compressors were launched more than five years ago.
Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc has hired Terry Sutherland as vice president of sales and marketing. Prior to joining Danfoss, Mr Sutherland was executive director, CES Services, at CES Group, the largest manufacturer of custom HVAC equipment in North America. In this role, he was responsible for developing a global technical service organisation that supported equipment sales into markets which included healthcare, data centre and education.

Buffaload Logistics, the Cambridgeshire-based temperature controlled logistics operator has

appointed Graham Usher to its sales and operational team as sales director.
With over 25 years’ experience in trailer sales, Mr Usher is well known throughout the transport industry for his knowledge and expertise of the temperature controlled sector.
His track record includes senior sales and marketing positions with Schmitz Cargobull, Gray and Adams and Montracon.

Richard Jones has been appointed managing director of the merged Carrier UK operations with responsibility for Carrier HVAC equipment sales and service, Carrier Controls, Carrier Rental Systems, and Toshiba Air Conditioning. Mr Jones has been with United Technologies for over 20 years having been with the Chubb organisation for several years before moving to Carrier in 2004.

Prior to his current role Mr Jones had responsibility for Carrier’s rental (HVAC and Pumps) European and UK operations.
Mr Jones has expressed his fresh management objectives as: “creating a strong unified team focused on our customers.
Space Airconditioning has appointed Steve Shefford as applied system sales manager with responsibility for the extensive Daikin AHU range of products.

Mr Shefford has over 35 years experience in the HVAC industry and joins from a major AHU manufacturer where he was national sales manager.
Craig MacFadyen has become product manager for air handling units at Klima-Therm.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in AHUs, with service at leading UK manufacturers such as Fläkt Woods.
Mr MacFadyen said: “Klima- Therm is well known for its success and outstanding technology in the chillers field. My aim is to make it as renowned and successful in air handling units.”
Evangelos Metaxas has been appointed regional sales manager in the South East for Klima-Therm. Formerly with Toshiba Carrier, he will focus on expanding Klima-Therm’s chiller sales through consultants, contractors and direct clients. Mr Metaxas said: “We see great potential for the latest HFO Turbomiser chillers, particularly in the light of the recent F-Gas revision – as people are now clear about the future phase-down of HFCs. “We have a number of major projects in the pipeline.”
