ALL ABOUT YOU — LETTERS

LETTERS

Who’s on £24k? Story: Travel salaries fall for first time this year Who are these people on £24,345? I’m on £10,000 less than that! l Underpaid

I always find it frustrating when salaries from differing levels and sectors are clumped together to make an average. Why not have averages for travel agents, ticketers, business travel etc? That would make more sense rather than spouting ambiguous figures. l Average Joe

All-inclusive lesson Story: Parents in legal challenge over term-time holiday ban Going all-inclusive doesn’t mean you don’t broaden the mind! I always go all-inclusive but I still take my son to ancient sites and museums and we still have a few days/nights out to sample the local cuisine. l To Anon

Coup? What coup? Story: Thailand’s military rulers pledge to support tourism I’m sitting by the pool at our Hua Hin hotel and still wondering why the British press and media insist on babbling on about the “situation” here in Thailand. We spotted a small group of soldiers

eating lunch near the airport when we arrived last week but none since then. A large dose of

reality is needed when discussing this coup. l Mike

I’m nett amused Story: Cosmos commission cuts ‘helping agents compete’ We can’t compete, though – not when Cosmos’s online prices are under our nett price. I’m sorry to say that we are unable to support or recommend Cosmos holidays, and I know we are not alone. l Susan Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Cosmos

Manston pickle Story: Manston owner ‘plans to turn airport site into garden city’ Manston has been ‘good to go’ for years. It is in the wrong location and the competition from Southend, Gatwick, London City etc means it hasn’t been able to attract sufficient passengers. l Susan Kennedy

Good luck, Andy Story: Andy Cooper to leave Thomas Cook All the very best for the future, Andy – somebody I could always rely upon for advice and support. l Raj Cheema

Monarch mission

LETTERS OF THE WEEK

Story: ‘Too many aircraft chasing too few passengers’, warns Monarch boss

If there are too many planes, my suggestion to Monarch would be to stop chasing and look after the clients/ routes it already has. Wouldn’t it be nice if the most unpunctual airline in 2013 had the odd standby aircraft? l Harry Cole

Monarch does have standby aircraft this year, and although it may not have the best on-time performance, it always tries to ensure the flights actually go, rather cancelling like easyJet and Ryanair do to save on fees. l Kerry

Perhaps Monarch should stimulate growth on exclusive routes. Jerez airport has only four flights a week from STN with Ryanair, and a weekly charter with Thomson from LGW. How about Monarch looks at a twice-weekly service to Jerez from LTN, BHX, EMA or MAN? l Gary Biston
